Welcome to this week's blurb!
Cool banner, huh? You know what's even cooler? Playing golf. Even more cool than that? Playing Hot Shots Golf 3. Good game, good golfing mechanics, nice charm to it since it's a Playstation 2 title, and an all around great time. But why do I even enjoy golf so much, it looks like a boring sport like tennis or cricket! Wrong. Wacking a ball as hard as you can with a long iron club over a long distance is a pretty fun thing to do, and the fact that you can drive to the ball in a little cart is also pretty epic. And while you might say if "I wanted to hit some balls, I'd play baseball or soccer," then I would say that there's nothing more satisfying than being able to both hit the ball with something strong so viscerally while at the same time still having the room to do really crazy cool shots. Baseball? Hit the ball, just hope it goes far, that's all. Soccer? You're hitting it with your leg, literally lame. Golf? Now that's where it's at.
Tangent aside, for this week's speculation, we'll be taking a look at the possibility of the minigame system being updated, as well as some interesting ideas and takes in regard to how it could be updated and improved.
With that out of the way, let's take a look at what the community has been up to!

Now we arrive at this week's user column!
Each week I will be asking members of the Brickadia community a question relevant to Brickadia at the moment, whether that be in regard to development, speculation, or even just hopes and desires surrounding the game itself.
The question this week is:
Knowing how we mainly have three minigame gamemodes at the moment, those being Sandbox, Deathmatch, and Bricktionary, do you think we'll see more minigame gamemodes sometime soon? If so, what minigame gamemodes would you like to see?
"Hmm, I think a lot more minigames will come with the interactions system. But what I think would be cool is minigames that incorporate physics into them. Lots of fun potential there of course!"
"Unfortunately, I don’t think we’re going to get any new gamemodes for or even during Early Access. The minigames system and gamemodes has seemingly been on the back burner (or at this point in the freezer) for the devs for years now, as we’ve seen nothing change with it since (I think?) Alpha 4, and there’s been basically no talk about it either from my knowledge. I don’t blame them, there’s bigger things to be worrying about, but it’s still pretty disappointing. As for new gamemodes, there’s a lot of classic gamemodes from Blockland that I’d love to see make a return as official gamemodes for Brickadia. Gamemodes like knife grapple, capture the flag, especially something akin to Speedkart, even creeper would be awesome to have as that was a favourite of mine (and Six actually worked on that so who knows), but I doubt we’ll see most if any of these be added to the game, though I’d love to be wrong!"
"I'd hope to see more gamemodes soon, I personally would like to see another mining gamemode as they are fun sometimes to just play while vibing to music."
And now for the weekly comic panel!
Minigames, a critical aspect of Brickadia! Without minigames, you'd have yourself a game that is basically just sandbox plus some cool behaviors coming up in the future. It's funny that I really haven't thought much about the minigame system considering frequently it is the case that a lot of the fun stuff that happens in Brickadia can stem from minigames themselves, whether that be fun and interesting run-to-a-checkpoint games, deathmatches, or even just Bricktionary which, for those not aware, is basically just Pictionary.
With the eventual release of Early Access coming closer day by day, it is a bit interesting to at least think about how the system itself could be improved, or at least what new gamemodes we could eventually see in Brickadia. As a matter of fact, I'd wager that there's a lot of potential for many sorts of fun types of minigames to be had.
Let's take a look at one idea I had recently that would be a sick addition as a gamemode given how we've been shown a particular entity object:

Now, if you've already seen the banner (which I assume you would've, it's the first thing you see on this whole page), then you can probably guess where I'm going with this.
But stick with me here, could you imagine just how sick it would be for players to make their own courses, plant checkpoints and holes that correspond to each other on the goal, and edit the mechanics of the game to account for how long a course might be, like how many shots for a par on a hole?
Here's another thought: if you've ever played minigolf, then you've definitely seen some interesting, albeit awesome looking courses with all sorts of structures, layouts, and design elements put in place for them, and given how Brickadia will have physics on release, could you imagine a spawn that moves around, or even a hole that moves around?

Can you even believe that there's a sign that says DURRR BURGER at PAX a couple years back, and that it was done by Fortnite? Talk about crazy coincidences, and the fact that it's a burger too on the course is wild.
Now for some insight as to what could be improved or ask, since he had answered this week's blurb question of the week and has some strong opinions on the system before, I asked The Sir Rolfe for a comment for a question similar to one he had answered before:
"If the developers were to work on updating the minigame system, what changes do you think they'd make, or that you'd at least hope they'd made?"
"If I had to guess what changes/updates the devs would make to the minigame system, I feel like the biggest thing would be a UI overhaul. It hasn’t really changed since the UI got updated in Alpha 4 and I feel like Six or Wrap would wanna make some changes here for Early Access; simplifying/streamlining the menus to make them easier to navigate and more approachable for players who aren’t as experienced with the minigames menu. I feel like we might also see some integration with behaviours to make it a lot easier for behaviours and minigames to be used in tandem with each other so players can really make some incredible gamemodes and minigames! That’d be amazing to see. Other than that, I’d hope for an expansion to what settings we have/options we can play around with so we can make some really customised minigames. Maybe even an outright “custom” mode so we can make our own minigames, rather than having to work within pre-made templates essentially. That’d be really cool!"

Now we know, like with almost every other aspect of the game being worked on for release as of right now, there will eventually be changes to the minigame system. When that will happen or when the news of that will take place, we'll have yet to see that, but the possibilities as to what gamemodes we can get, how we can tweak them and edit them, or even how we can use them with different features and aspects of the game seem almost limitless. Could you imagine playing minigolf across city rooftops, or playing a game of capture the flag more easily in a castle setting?
Personally, one thought that I do have is that while some gamemodes like capture the flag or anything similar to deathmatch could be done with the deathmatch gamemode, having the ease of access by offering those sub-gamemodes as an option instead of having to edit the gamemode to an incredibly trivial degree is something I feel is somewhat necessary. Paintball? Its own gamemode. A game of legally-distinct UNO? Slap it on a table, its own gamemode. While the idea isn't to eliminate having to be creative to make certain minigame ideas real, with a clunky UI and a limited selection, I think it's fair to say some attention could be given to the minigame system.
But yeah, if you're reading this, add golf or minigolf as a gamemode for minigames. It'd be really cool, I promise, you could even have golfing clubs as an item you can normally use and wack people with it, come on it's awesome. DO IT.
