Welcome to today's blurb!
It's almost time for the end of the contest!
What contest? It's almost over? What's going on?
That's right! I'm going to take this time briefly to fill in everyone on this contest in case you haven't heard already.
Over the past few weeks, I've started a contest that allows people to recreate LEGO-esque sets in-game, both official and clone sets, for the opportunity to win a reward. Very cool!
What exactly is the reward for this competition?
Sounds cool. But what are the rules for this contest?
The sole winner will be judged based on skill, both in relation to the build and skill regarding presentation.
Wow! And when does this contest end?
This contest will end on the release of 80th blurb, which will be released on June 22nd, 2026. The winner will be announced in the following blurb, which will be on July 6th, 2026.
And here's the crazy thing for all of you reading this: No one has made a submission yet for this contest!
So if you're looking for an easy win, this is your opportunity!
Now, with that out of the way, let's get into what the community has been up to recently:
I can already smell the fumes of my GPU melting. An excellent, well-crafted build as per usual, especially because of this awesome shot of it!:

Did you know that Renderman is actually the name of an industry-standard rendering software for animation companies like Pixar? This doesn't really have anything to do with that, just thought I'd mention it costs like $800 DOLLARS. Anyways, awesome poster, and sick theater lobby!:

An insane stop-motion recording of a ship refitting:

The armada has arrived...:

I've shown this build before, but I haven't shown this awesome shot of it:

Seems like the community is very capable of building lively, comfortable rooms:

It seems like the two previous builders were on the same wavelength, as pictured below:

Now it's time to make a text-based adventure!:

The only thing this needs is barriers for the bikelanes, cause I think it's a very well proven fact that drivers are NOT friendly to bikers in general:

"Whew, I almost became a Jill sandwich back there!":

I know the brick count has to be in the 100,000's just because of that grass, but I wouldn't be lying if I didn't say it looked awesome:

I really like how the lighting looks on this build, makes it feel like a legit, well-rendered shot:

Little did anyone realize that the cake shop pictured here is the site of a money-laundering scheme:

"Nico, my cousin! Let's go bowling!":

A portal gun of some sort would be pretty cool in-game:

I knew it was only a matter of time until someone got working artillery. The arms race is alive and real in Brickadia:

Fitting that I feature this considering a new Spyro game was just recently announced!:

Now we just need destruction physics so that we can completely blow the HQ up:

I really like this picture specifically because of the crazy text in the background. Really well-made!:

I love how this is the train ethical dilemma but it's absolutely busted since the train technically occupies both tracks. There is no ethical solution, only pain:

Now we arrive at this blurb's user column!
The question for this blurb is:
What kind of contests in the future would you like to see from the blurb?
"The ones that come to mind are more building related ones. Perhaps even pixel art."
"There are a whole lot of directions contests could reasonably go, both in terms of content created in-game and not. Contests for vignette builds following a certain theme could be a decent way to start, but just about anything could be spun off into a contest. Artwork made outside of- but inspired by- the game, pretty build showcases, fully fledged adventure maps, or even machinima content. Machinima films in particular have the potential to act as proverbial 'force multipliers' for reach and engagement, whether they're supposed to be stories with narratives or just music videos recorded in the game. Since they tend to necessitate being uploaded somewhere online, they have the inherent capacity to gain exposure independent of the contests that catalyzed their creation."
"The best ones are ones that could be captured easily in short form video for people to experience on the blurb itself. I think some good ideas would be like, an autonomous meme robot competition ([I don't know] what this would be called)[...] things like yogurt or the penguin that waddles around. Just a little droid that has some programmed moves. Could be a great competition. I wanted to do a vignette competition that would work as well I think, the vignette term comes from roblox i think but it's a static location and the environment around you is animated and looping like the subway car build i made or the 'stuck in a truck' build on the gallery. comic competition would be dope as well. Any competition that highlights creativity. I love doing hyper detailed building stuff but the peak can come from just cool ideas that people make."
And now for the blurb comic panel!:
Did someone mention development media?
That's right, new development media has finally dropped!
While the development media in itself isn't exactly huge, development media is still development media, so we might as well take a look at it!
The first one we'll be taking a look at is a new Applicator feature. When the Applicator tool is editing a light source, you will now be able to see just how big the light source is, even for lights that are pointing towards something!
Credit: Zeblote
In terms of crafting scenes and environments, this is a pretty huge addition, mainly because of the fact that it allows for players to know the exact location and scope of a light source. One interesting thing to note is the fact that the wire guide doesn't seem to have a button dedicated for turning it on or off, which would suggest that the wire guide is always present when editing the specific light source with the Applicator.
Right now, this is only limited to light sources, but something like this would also be useful for things like bots. I like the idea of sneaking by bots, so perhaps having something like a line of sight mechanic for bots would make that work out. Having the wire guide for how far they can see and how they can see would be useful for that too.
Let's take a look at our next source of speculation: wires!
Credit: Zeblote
The Connector tool is now able to view what values are traveling across wires when the cursor is hovering over the wire in question. Not only that, another thing we're seeing is that we're able to see what value is going through rerouters and ports!
There's actually not too much for me to add on to this given I myself am not much of a wires kind of guy, but what would be good to see is if wires could drag wires at any specific point to reconnect to another point. What do I mean? Let's say you wanted to do some wire management. You made an ugly mess of a bunch of wires. Not only that, it's a little inconvenient having to remove the connection, click the original port, bring it to the rerouter brick, and so on and so forth.
What if instead of that, you could just drag the from any point of the wire without destroying it, and then release it into a brick that can accept the wire? That way you can maintain the connection but just separate it into two by having them meet at a particular midpoint. I think that would be a good way to make the Connector tool also interact with wires more directly.
Just to wrap things up, I want to take a brief moment to talk about the contest I'm hosting again. I really hope folks reading this submit something, and I recommend that if you do plan on entering, you enter as soon as possible before the deadline of the release of the next blurb post!
With that out of the way, on the next blurb, we'll be taking a look at a crazy feature that has just been revealed: text on bricks!
Stay tuned.
And that's all for this blurb!
