Blurb #5: 4/10/2023
Welcome to this week's blurb!
Awesome deck of cards, they look kinda tasty too in an edible sort of way:
And we got some appetizer domino pieces too?:
Another LEGO set in Brickadia, very epic:
I still can't even make it myself.
Extraordinarily well-made ships with impressive detail:
Another miniature with trains, railroads, and buildings:
beebaOS:
You have [1] new notification!
Before he knows it, his PTSD flashbacks will be automated by behaviors too:
TERMINATION SEQUENCE: ACTIVATED;
you got it
Welcome to City 17. Or should I say goodbye?
Now we arrive at this week's user column!
Each week I will be asking members of the Brickadia community a question relevant to Brickadia at the moment, whether that be in regard to development, speculation, or even just hopes and desires surrounding the game itself.
The question this week is:
What cosmetic items would you like to see in Brickadia?
stixc
"Honestly I'd vouch for more interactive items that aren't just the healing potion/soda can(soon), so maybe physical food like popcorn? Also a camera item ala garry's mod for taking pics would be nice"
Moonkey
KeyboardCombination
"Swordpack for the back."
So for this week, uhm, uh...
I kind of realize now that making speculation when you've speculated as much as you feasibly can is a little tough. Actually, wait, no, I got something:
It is well known that in the community that physics is going to be a big thing to be featured in Early Access alongside behaviors and vehicles. However, one tool that isn't really discussed or talked about recently despite being known about is the Manipulator tool.
For those unaware, this is what it looks like:
The tool seemingly appears to share some resemblance and functionality to the Phsygun from Garry's Mod. Additionally, its use has been demonstrated in videos such as these:
One thing to note is that in this video, the domino pieces have a bit of a hard time pushing each other on some occassions. From what it looks like, there is too much "friction" as you can probably guess. However, given that this is something that is noted as being "uncooperative", it could be reasonable to assume that we could see the implementation of properties for bricks and objects in general. Some bricks would be highly frictive while other bricks are slippery similar to butter and ice.
We've also see the functionality for bricks being pushed with the Manipulator tool with nothing but the tool itself. Footage of this can be seen at the 0:18 second mark of this Twitter video posted by the official Brickadia Twitter account: Uncooperative dominos.
With that out of the way, I can probably use this spot right now to talk about some details for a contest I plan on hosting.
As of right now, the details are still being sorted out, but I plan on hosting a contest within the next few months right before July where the winner will recieve a free copy of Brickadia that I will gift them (I don't know how keys work either lol). How will winners be determined? What will the contest involve readers or players doing? That's to be found out soon, but stay tuned for details on that.
And that's all for this week of the durb blurb!

Blurb #4: 4/3/2023
Welcome to this week's blurb!
Let's cut to the chase. In case you haven't heard:
Brickadia has been delayed to release in Q3 2023, specifically between July and September.
While this is incredibly disappointing to hear, the delay was not unexpected, to say the least. Even at the end of my last blurb, certain features that would've been expected to be spoken of now were not talked about in the brief developer interview. However, while the game may be delayed, the time it will take to wait is at least more digestable than not, with the community only have to wait between 3 to 5 months for the release.
For more information on the delay of Brickadia, check out this blog post:
Release Date: Summer 2023Additionally, this does provide ample time for the developers to finish creating the features they want in the game, as well as providing more than enough time to gaurantee some degree of quality assurance. They just better make the time count. As the saying goes, a delayed game is eventually good. With this influx in time, this also provides members of the community time to come up with creations that could utilize the features of behaviors and physics in the future!
Now all we have to do is play the waiting game (aka cryosleeping)
Now with that out of the way, let's take a look at the creations and moments for this week in the Brickadia community!
A gigantic ship under construction:
A fez cosmetic!?
Sports cars:
Build set in rainy weather:
man
More work is being done for a fun mining game for Brickadia from Critical Floof:
Gigantism:
Wait real?
"To win over your bad self is the grandest and foremost victories" (no citation cos lazy lol):
I will never delay this blurb. EVER. EVEN IF I HAVE TO DIE.
There is currently one leading theory in regard to speculation about Brickadia, and it reads as follows:
One thing to consider too is based on the delay of the game and last weeks speculation to go along with it, it could be assumed that vehicles might not have actually been started fully yet apart from barebone functions that slowly lead into vehicles. While images and videos have been seen of hinges and the like being used to create arbitrary forms of vehicles, nothing has ever been spoken of in regard to just how exactly vehicles will operate, alongside any sort of standardization of vehicles in regard to properties, functionalities, and so on and so forth. So while it may not be much speculation, it's likely so that behaviors has a much more leading focus than vehicles at the moment.
But I mean hey, at least we get cool videos like these that showcase those barebone features like hinges and motorized hinges:

Blurb #3: 3/27/2023
Welcome to this week's blurb!
Let's get straight to the point: this site should be super mobile friendly now. If it doesn't work now, I don't know what will. Thanks to Super again for helping me with formatting this blog!
As this is the last blurb to be released in March, and with the anticipation and hope that Brickadia will indeed release in April of this year 2023...
...we will be asking 3 burning questions from the community to one of the developers of Brickadia!
But who will the developer be...?
Now with that out of the way, let's take a look at the creations and moments for this week in the Brickadia community!
Starting off with something wholesome, two people had their tires stolen:
A house with a satisfying use of the pawn chess piece:
A throwback to an astounding build that relies on reflections and neon bricks:
A Brickadian cultural artifact:
Store progress for Rothary please can i see my family by the end of the year i beg you:
Now I'm just going to cut to the chase cause we have some interesting columns to look at today. Get your glasses, cause this will be quite the read!
Now we arrive to the user column!
Each week I will be asking members of the Brickadia community a question relevant to Brickadia at the moment, whether that be in regard to development, speculation, or even just hopes and desires surrounding the game itself.
For this week, since things are a little special considering April is around the corner, we'll be asking two questions. So, if anything, why not ask questions that show how the community feels about Brickadia and what they're excited about?
The first question this week is:
With the multitudes of features expected to come to Brickadia either upon release or in the future, which feature are you most excited for?
FlavouredGames
"Behaviours so I can make my colonial house interactive and awesome."
Lantz
"One of my favorite mechanics in games have always been mobile bases that you build and upgrade over time, so having giant vehicles that are editable at any time they're moving is an incredibly exciting feature that I can't wait to mess around with!"
Cryptic Runner
"Definitely vehicles or behaviors, it's very hard for me to decide which one of the two is better. It'll be really fun driving around in chases on city streets, riding jetskis across canals and flying planes near mountains. But on the other hand behaviors are much more of a broad thing"
The second question this week is:
What do you enjoy the most about Brickadia, and where do you see it going in the next couple years?
tealia
"I'm not sure what I enjoy most about Brickadia but I can definitely see it going places in the next few years gaining a moderately sized playerbase and social media presence."
room bobcat
"Brickadia has been the almost-perfect spiritual successor to Blockland that I've played, and to many other former Blocklanders. I think that alone has to be my favorite part of this game: we all enjoyed Blockland as kids but wanted something new. When I joined Open Alpha 3 and saw the familiar names from over ten years ago, I just knew that there was something special in the making here. It's why I stuck around, at least.
I see Brickadia becoming something great in the next couple of years. With the addition of wires / brick behaviors and build-able vehicles coming in the next update, I can already see the floodgates opening."
Ghille
"What I enjoy most out of brickadia is the durb blurb and I see brickadia becoming a durb blurb fan game in the next couple years."
Now we get to the highlight of this blurb!
For this segment of the blurb, we will be asking one of the developers of Brickadia, Sixmorphugus, three questions! The question we asked members of the community for this is:
If you could ask a developer one question regarding Brickadia in regard to features, plans, or development, what would you ask?
Here are their questions, along with Sixmorphugus's answers:
Do you think that a system where you could pose, and possibly animate, Brickadian "actors", (A spawnable entity, like a bot.) would be a feature that would be added in the future? Do you think said system could be integrated with bots to give players more freedom in posing NPCS or something along those lines?
- Raelthyk
"No plans for this right now. We're still in the very early stages prior to even having any bots in the first place. It almost definitely won't be in EA."
Brickadia is the spiritual successor to Blockland. So far, Brickadia has gone above and beyond Blockland's capability in regard to the building mechanics a game can provide users. Future plans for adding behaviors and mods are well-known, so the question is: Where do you see Brickadia in five years from now? How will building be different then? How long will the Brickadia platform be supported?
- cutter
"This is three questions, but you can check our FAQ and our Steam page (under "what the developers say" in the early access section) for answers to all of these we currently feel confident giving."
Will vehicles have customizable parameters, such as acceleration, drag, friction coefficients, downforce, health, etc..? If so, how would a player interact with these values?
- Tantiem
"I can't announce any vehicle features at the moment."
Thank you again, Sixmorphugus, for answering these questions!
With some answers from this developer, is there anything we can speculate about?
Based on Sixmorphugus's answer to the first question, Brickadia isn't at the point where it can have bots quite yet. Very much so straight forward, but there is one thing to note about this answer, which we'll come back to in a scond. Taking a look at the second question gives us the equivalent of an answering machine, which is a little unexpected but not the worst at least. Taking a look at the FAQ, which can be seen here, under the question "How will the final version [of Brickadia] differ from Early Access," it reads:
"We plan to implement a robust modding system to let you import your own custom content into the game, add brick terrain editing tools, continue fleshing out the physics, logic and scripting systems, expand the library of bricks and tools inside the game. We regularly work to improve the performance and support larger and larger builds as you build more crazy things. The future is bright!"
With this in mind, Early Access for Brickadia will have huge differences compared to what could be its final version, though only time will tell just how great the differences may be.
The final question to this is given the no-comment treatment, which is entirely understandable from a game development and contract point of view. However, let's consider real quick the fact that the first question in regard to bots and the possibility of there being anything like that was answered in a fairly transparent manner; we will not be seeing bots of any kind, as the game is too early in its stage to even support them. On the other hand, when asking about vehicle interactions, parameters, and the like of such, we are not given an answer. It could be concluded that despite the fact that April is coming around real soon at the time of writing this, vehicles may still be under heavy question at the current moment. What implications this has about the release of vehicles alongside Brickadia's Early Access release or even the release date for Early Access is not clear, so I'll let you, the reader, think about that!

Blurb #2: 3/20/2023
Welcome to the second blurb!
Reception to the blurb so far has been very positive from the Brickadia community, and I am very happy to see that people enjoy this blurb page!
Jokes aside, huge thank you to Super for helping me make the website more mobile friendly and for helping me create certain features for the page (who would've thought creating three columns would be hard to do?
Now, What is there to talk about this week in the Brickadia community?
Starting things off, let's showcase a few builds from the community this week!
A very fine town build featuring a park, carriages and townspeople, and nicely designed buildings:
A small, aesthetically pleasing build.
A video of a man walking into barbed wires:
An assortment of very well made ships with different color schemes (+ a rare cutter sighting)
Two speculative designs that are really dumb lol:
A physical manifestation of the first design seen above:
An apple growing from a tree:
I've never seen anyone talk about this before, but this is a thing, apparently.
Apparently when you get too close to the Out Of Bound barrier (aka the death barrier of the world), your avatar begins to jitter as a result of just how far your avatar is from the center of the world. Usually this happens if you're in ghost mode and you fall endlessly down through the world, but it's surprising to see it happens even when you're within the boundaries of the world:
Now we arrive at a new addition: the user column!
Each week I will be asking members of the Brickadia community a question relevant to Brickadia at the moment, whether that be in regard to development, speculation, or even just hopes and desires surrounding the game itself.
The question this week is:
Given the current progress of Brickadia and the arrival towards April, do you believe Brickadia will be delayed, or will we get an exact April release date soon?
Orodan
"I don't really mind if would get delayed or not, but I do trust Toriel on her words"
"I believe in [the] devs behind Brickadia"
Oxy
"[C]onsidering the fact that we haven't actually seen drivable vehicles or wires yet I wouldn't be surprised if they did delay the release, but I also think they might be able to put something together before then as it sounds like behaviors might be the most complex planned feature and it looks like [S]ix has been making some good progress there."
Tohim
"I believe if it is released in April at all it will be on the prophesized date"
It could be very likely that we are getting a new health item to go along with the health potion and medpacks in Brickadia. In what form may that appear in? While it is common knowledge in the community that a soda can was spotted in the trailer for Brickadia, the trailer of which you can see here, it may very well be likely that the soda can itself is a health item.
The only forms of health potions currently available are medpacks and potions, the latter being the only handheld health booster in the game. It would be feasible to assume it is a health item as well given that the only other handheld health item is specifically medieval fantasy themed, so a more modern item beyond just medical aid packs would make sense.
A while ago, a video displaying the drink animation for the soda can was released by Sixmorphugus, one of the developers for Brickadia. Comparing the video along with the drink animation for the health potion shows they have similar animation duration for the drinking process (the start-up animations have different lengths for both items, however).
It is difficult to tell for certain when the drinking itself begins to take place as there are no visible liquids present in the soda, so this is the best estimate I could come up with. When you line up the timing for when the items leave the player's inventory though, they do share similar animations, namely in regard to when the drinks themselves are lifted and when the player throws away the item.
Yeah, that's all I got, I had more initially that appeared as legitimate speculation until I realized the whole thing was that new trails to rockets were added and shown by the developers. For those unaware, this is what the new trails for rocket launchers will look like in Early Access release:
With there being new trails, it is reasonable to assume that we could potentially see more trails and effects added to the game.
Only way to know for certain, though, is when Early Access comes around, so who knows what will come? Maybe in Early Access, we'll finally get emotes that make the avatar dance or even more music and sound effects, but only time will tell.
That's all for this week on the durb blurb, there is a lot more to talk about now that I am getting the hang of things, but rest assured I will have your money, and you WILL support me on my totally real Patreon.

Blurb #1: 3/13/2023
Welcome to the first durb blurb!
As a result of the fact that we have not gotten a development blog from the developers of Brickadia in quite some time, I have taken it upon myself to create a blog for every Monday to fit the bill!
There is only one problem that is quickly apparent:
the fact being that I can't offer the same level of content as the developers of Brickadia, at least in terms of what they offer in their development blogs!
What will these blogs cover?
I'll generally just cover whatever it is that I find interesting or cool to share in the Brickadia community, alongside speculation and highlights!
What is there to cover this week in the Brickadia community?
This week, I created this blog! (lol)
Rothary created psuedo-stickers for vehicles:
Tohim created these very cool cosmetic suggestions for Brickadia:
Very cool use of bricks:
The Sir Rolfe has been working on an updated map of "Project Virtuous - Sky Islands", here is a feature of it:
And last, but certainly not least, a cool avatar:
That's all for this week on the durb blurb, there isn't really much to talk considering this is my first time doing this, so cut me some slack.
